Jamey
Yon
|
Jamey Yon started competing in triathlon
while attending Clemson University in 1986.
After 12 years of competitive golf, Jamey
was starting from “scratch” as an endurance
athlete. In 1989 he won his first race and
from that point on continued to climb the
ranks. At age 31 he became the age group
national champion and went on to finish 3rd
in the World Championship. After
accomplishing his goals as an age grouper,
Jamey decided to race in the pro division.
In the past 12 years he has 16 Ironman
finishes and 5 of those in the top 10
overall. In 2000, Jamey put his racing to
the test and in 12 months he set personal
records in the 5K, marathon, sprint
triathlon, and Ironman! His consistency and
longevity in the sport comes from a keen
sense of balance and quality training.
Jamey is now coaching novice and elite
athletes and designing programs that best
suit the athletes’ individual needs. “With
the proper guidance and coaching
accountability,” says Coach Yon, “every
person is capable of becoming the athlete
they are designed to be.” |
